What WECSL is all about
About WECSL
The West End Co-Ed Slowpitch League has been playing ball since 1979. It’s a fun, volunteer-driven league with a welcoming environment for players of all levels of skill and experience.
Our foundational tenets—fun, integrity, respect and safety—sum up what we’re all about. If you’re looking for an ultra competitive league with a high level of drama, this ain’t it. Our season of 18 games typically runs from late April to late July, with a final playoff tournament on the last weekend of the season. We play in beautiful Stanley Park in Vancouver.
Our history
WECSL was founded in 1979 by a group of friends in Vancouver’s West End. They were looking for a league to join that prioritized community and fun over competitiveness and unfun. They decided to start their own.
Now, over 40 years later, it’s still going strong. Our secret is the way we mix up our teams each season, so everyone gets to know everyone, play with everyone, and become fast friends. New players join to sprinkle some energy on the action and fun is had by all.
