FAQ
When does the WECSL season run?
The season typically starts in late April and ends in late July.
We try not to play any holiday weekends during the season, so people can vacation without missing games. The schedule is finalized in early April each year.
How old do I have to be to join WECSL?
You need to be 19.
Can I be on the same team as my friends?
When you sign up, you can select one person you’d like to be partnered with on the same team, and they need to select you as their partner too. You cannot sign up as a team, or as a group.
Why can I only choose one teammate?
Simply put, it’s the best way to meet new people and make friends, and avoid overly competitive team rivalries that boil over into drama and aggression. This model of mixing up teams each team is our secret sauce.
It’s why so many players come back each year, and why we’ve been the most fun league in North America since 1979.
Do I need to get insurance?
No. Your WECSL registration covers all insurance requirements of Softball BC.
Who umpires WECSL games?
Players from the league volunteer to ump. They’re not professional, paid umps, which is why we maintain a strict “Don’t be a jerk to them” policy.
What days do I play?
Each team plays every Saturday during the season, at either 10am, 12pm, 2pm or 4pm, occasional Sundays (usually two per season), and one weeknight game (either Monday or Wednesday) every other week.
We aim to play 18 games per year, barring rainouts. We end the season with a 2-day weekend playoff tournament and a fun party.
When is the registration?
Registration typically takes place in March. You can register online, or in person at our Annual General Meeting, which is held in mid to late March.
How much does a season cost?
The 2026 season cost is $100 per person. The cost includes a jersey and a thousand good times.
In addition, there is a $20 annual fee payable to Softball BC which requires a once-in-a-lifetime registration fee of $10.
Where does WECSL play?
WECSL plays at the beautiful Brockton Oval in stunning Stanley Park in vivid Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
What equipment do I need to provide?
You need a glove. Baseball cleats are recommended but not mandatory. We provide slo-pitch–approved bats and balls and bases. Helmets and pitching guards are available too, but we cannot guarantee an appropriate fit for everyone.
